Location:
Situated on the East coast of Fife, approximately 1.5 km from the historical town of St Andrews. The farm overlooks the sea and is within easy walking distance of St Andrews and the town's beautiful beaches, leisure centre, historical sites and bars and restaurants.
Product:
Grows 48 acres of strawberries which are packed on the farm and sold mainly to large supermarket chains in the UK.
Number of summer workers employed:
Around 135.
Nature of work:
· mainly strawberry picking
· berry quality checking
· berry packing
· erecting polythene tunnels
· cutting strawberry runners
Workers are expected to work 6 days per week, usually from 7am to 4pm. Hours may vary slightly depending on crop volume. Wet weather does not stop work as 26 acres of fruit is covered by polythene tunnels.
Accommodation and facilities:
Accommodation is provided in fully equipped self-catering mobile homes. Each home sleeps 4 people. Each has its own cooker and fridge. All homes are modern and maintained to the highest standard. Showers and laundry facilities are on site and within easy reach of the mobile homes.
Leisure facilities such as televisions, darts, bicycles, table tennis, netball, football and board games are provided.
Regular trips are organised to the local supermarket.
